[ending December 20, 2019; AlmostChristmasThankGoodness]

Monday wasn’t much an exciting day, work-wise, though I did get to meet up with fellow Free Agents Jeremiah and Ali, albeit separately. I have missed the luxury of just running into friends and colleagues in Ottawa.

Sidenote: Got a chance to see my old A Cappella group, Harmonic Generation, perform Sunday evening. They did a cover of “Better Now” by Post Malone, but 80s style with an A-Ha sample. AMAAAZING.

Better now!
Miss singing with these Aca nerds!

Also I read this, which came out right after I sent my weekly update around last Friday, by fellow Free Agent Steph Percival:

Tuesday was OneTeamGov Unconference day in Ottawa. Initially I was supposed to be up in Ottawa for work, but that trip was cancelled, so I had to scramble a bit to figure out how to get there. I missed the unconference earlier this year in Victoria, and really wanted to make this one happen.

I had an amazing experience at OneTeamGovGlobal in London in July 2018:

I felt a similar thread of energy and hope running through the crowd. It gave me the opportunity to meet new people, and reconnect with those I haven’t seen in ages since my move to the Barrie area in February 2019.

A great session facilitated by Abe Greenspoon with Greg White on notes.

Wednesday was a travel day! I had numerous connectivity issues aboard ViaRail, rendering meetings very difficult. I kept trying to get back on the Wifi, over and over and over again. Thankfully I could work on things I’d already saved to my desktop for this type of situation. I was frustrated and tired and peopled out, and it was kind of a garbage day. A tracker trailer wedged itself onto the Go train tracks heading into Bradford, so my second train was delayed. This was on hour 8 of travel, so my patience was shot. I just wanted to be home.

Thursday I was honestly so grumpy. There are a great many factors, but I think I’m deeply tired. Vacation definitely made a dent in that sentiment, and I don’t feel as fatigued as I did in late September, but I notice some similarities, so I’ve started to speak up about it in meetings and identify the things I think might be contributing to feeling that way.

Midhurst bests Ottawa and Winnipeg AGAIN. SO COLD.

Friday is for many people, the last day in office before the holidays begin. I’ve already had a good chunk of time off, so I’m not planning to take more right now. I’m hopeful that it’ll be a quieter time, and I’ll head into January energized and excited for what’s next.

This Christmas is damn soon!
