Weeks are the four-on-the-floor kick-drum of eternity” Russell Davies

The big news this week is my website launch. There are some tweaks I would like to make in the future but I am very happy with it. I will be promoting it in the new year as I’m sure you all have much more interesting things to do than read about coaching, facilitation and speaking.

Since 13th December I have been taking my new ADHD medication Meflynate XL. I took 20mg for 7 days and then 30mg. I have not had any side effects apart from (the what seems obligatory) sore lips.

The beginning of a thread about my medication experience

I was approached recently by a facilitator who is setting up a global neurodivergent facilitator community and we had a call on Monday to discuss what we wanted to get out of such a group. It looks really interesting so far.

On Tuesday I had another Gold Mind Academy session for my ADHD coaching course, this one on Memory which is an emotive subject for many ADHDers due to problems caused by our low working memory.

In the afternoon I travelled to Plymouth to attend the last NeuDICE Plymouth Living Lab of the year and partake of hot chocolate, mince pies and Habesha food by Elsie at Jabulani.

I took the van to give it a bit of a run as the engine management light came on last week and it looks like it is a filter issue caused by short journeys. It was pretty foggy on the coast road on the way back.

I am looking forward to warmer weather and lighter nights and have decided on some trips for next year.

Wednesday was a rare day with nothing in the calendar and in my usual end of year way I rediscovered Kanbanflow which is a favourite service for me and set up a few boards for my current priorities. I will do a separate post on how I use it.

Thursday I had a Virtual coffee with Albrecht via Agile in the Ether which was really interesting. In the evening I started to feel more and more poorly. Mick has had a cold for a week and it was clearly my turn.

Mum and Dad take a lot of tablets and used to spend half a day each week sorting them into their pill pots. While some pharmacies previously offered this service, it’s now rarely available. I discovered a provider called PillTime, which organises medication into convenient, time-labelled tear off pouches that are coiled into a compact box for easy use. I have tested the service with my medication. I will write about this separately.

Friday I had a GP appointment at 8:30 and took Dad to a physio appointment at the end of the day. He discussed his arthritic knees and the arrangements we are making and the physio is arranging cortisone injections. He suggested swimming and Dad was not keen but I have found a place just around the corner that does lessons for children and some fitness stuff. They might be able to accommodate us for some ‘walking around the pool holding onto the side’.

Last week I ordered stickers for GovCamp and this week they arrived so that is exciting.

My phone contract came to an end yesterday and I got a message from them saying that I could keep paying the same monthly amount which was £106! or I could get a new sim only contract or upgrade my phone which is an iPhone 14 and I don’t need an upgrade. I went with a sim only contract 150gb for £20 per month on EE. I am very proud of myself for spotting the message and doing something about it. That might be due to the medication as this scenario is one where an ADHDer might fail to make a decision and keep paying the higher rate.

Today (Saturday I am doing as little as possible and have found out that there a two John Scalzi books out next year in March and September. Mick is doing his last volunteer shift of the year at the community library.

On Christmas day we are cooking for Mum & Dad and so we ordered our groceries and are going to pick them up tomorrow. I convinced Mick to go with a prepared meal from Cook rather than him be up at 2am preparing veg.

ADHDism of the week

I decided on my Granddaughter’s gift and carefully chose a variety of accessories (no spoilers) adding them to the basket, only to forget to check out. I finally realised on 19th December which was the seller’s last day for Christmas delivery, it arrived yesterday afternoon and Mick took it to the post office before closing, phew.

Next Week

It’s Christmas!

Have a great weekend and a lovely Christmas and New Year
